Breakfast staple

My go to breakfast has always been a bagel with cream cheese on the go. Ive been trying to limit my carbs and i am a sucker for eggs. This has quickly become my staple breakfast when i have time in the morning.

>>| +
+ spinach
+ two eggs
+ red pepper hummus
+ one slice of bread
+ hot sauce, garlic powder, pepper

I feel better eating this than the classic egg & cheese bagel breakfast sandwich. I eat so much cheese that im glad i can substitute with hummus in the morning.

restyle DiY: daisy dress

+++

I had bought this daisy dress at the thrift store for 4$ and knew I wanted to try to restyle it somehow. Dont get me wrong, it was cute enough on it own but i wanted to switch up the hem a little bit.
+
Originally i was just going to do the classic high-low option. Then i started remembering how recently I has seen long slits in maxis instead of high-low.
+
From there I kindof did the opposite: instead of creating two side slits in a longer dress, i cut it to a mini dress with long side panels.
I'm all for the mini dress, but I wanted to give it a little more movement and flow to it.

 +
For this restyle all I used was
1. the dress
2. scissors
3. white fabric pencil

>><<
I simply folded the dress symmetrically in half,
drew a guiding line with the fabric pencil,
& cut a half rounded square shape

I wore this in my weekly style capture 12.0 post --> pairing it with lace biker shorts, a bright cardigan, a floral crown & some layered necklaces.

Summer reads & films -->

+++

Now that I am graduated (woohoo) I feel like maybe, just maybe, i'll be able to finally read some of the books sitting in my shelf, and relax to watch some films I've had an interest in. Dreaming of warm days and nights on this gloomy one, I began to compile a list of summer reads and summer films. This was only from a quick glance at my bookshelf & a note I began to write in my phone while procrastinating on homework and watching the "suggested" trailers on imdb (oops) I know there are loads & loads more that I am forgetting or dont yet know about, but I am excited to begin!

if anyone has any good movie or book (or music!) suggestions please let me know!! I'm always up for new inspirations.

+
In other news, my baby sister turned sixteen yesterday. I remember my brother and I at ages 4 and 6 wearing diy'ed "big sister" and "big brother" shirts  and later pushing her around in a laundry basket like she was our personal doll. Yesterday was a definite reminder of how quickly time passes.

"a friendship between college girls is grander and more dramatic than any romance"

 +++

I graduated yesterday from my four years at Buffalo State College. My friend Sam made us photo albums with photos from freshman year and up til graduation. It was so funny to see how much we've each changed and grown over the past four years.

I am so blessed to have met such beautiful people and made such wonderful friendships & I am so eager to see where the world will take us now

art therapy: major visual statement

For our "final" in my art therapy class we had to do a major visual statement and presentation. There were so many different ideas that I wanted to do but they all required weeks of work, (ahem, altered books) I started thinking back on all of my projects throughout the semester and realized that they all were connected--they were all demonstrating my growth and widening of perspective in the past year. The image of an eye came to me and i knew I wanted to incorporate that into representing how broadly ive grown. I made a list of all the places, people, events, objects that have inspired this growth and picked a lot of which has influenced me the greatest. Originally I wanted to have representations of all these things within the eye itself but it was too small, so I created triangular sections from from the eye and going outward on the canvas--i liked this symbolism more too.
++
I really enjoyed this project and being able to have a large (18x24) canvas to visually represent this growth in spirit and view. My "canvas wall" behind my bed is looking pretty full so I'm in need of some rearranging to fit this baby up somewhere

Mother's Day >> DIY

 +++
For Mother's Day this year my mom was at a dance competition all day with my sister, so we weren't really able to do anything special & we had done loads of lovey-dovey-youre-the-best-part-of-me-mom thing two weeks ago for her birthday. Nonetheless I still wanted to bring a little something to brighten up her days. I decided to buy some cacti & succulent plants for her to brighten up her office, her bedroom, or wherever else she felt she needed a little bit more something.
 +
I picked three different plants in three different sizes to represent her three children.
I had already bought myself two cacti & succelant plants back in february & i love looking at something natural in my room. I like the idea of growth in the everyday.
+
I had painted the pots i bought from ac moore with cheap acrylic paint just to make them seem that more special. It was very fun, easy & relatively cheap for this project. For the painting designs I just used whatever colours & patterns i felt like -- very liberating to not have any proper plan.
++
>> plants: home depot, 12$
>> pots & paint: ac moore: 8$

+++

This mini DIY was quick & fun. My mum really enjoyed the plants & was surprised that I had painted them so nicely (thanks mum) She brought the purple rimmed cactus with her to work this morning!
