Project time!

Im taking an art therapy class this semester, which im really enjoying so far. We mostly talk about how this kind of therapy works & look at cases and interpret. We also hand in 8 visual statements over the course of the semester. Today our first three were due with written reflections explaining the meaning, the process & relating them to the text. This was my second piece and i titled it "Reaching." its all about locations where ive felt alive and at home. While in was abroad studying i was able to travel to 7 different cities. I printed off a photograph that i took from each place and on the opposite side of each one i put a photograph that ive taken here in Buffalo, NY. Ive been struggling with the containment i feel in buffalo and the longing i have to be back at any one of these cities. I used this project to help me find beauty here in buffalo too.
This project was good for me & helped me come to terms with my urge for new places. Not sure what grade ill get on this piece but i cant wait to bring it home & display it in my room to keep me positive :)

Weekly recap of outfits. Evidence of my attempt to bring in some spring colours. Also noticing that my tuesday & thursday outfits are bum-ish & conveniently those are my school days. Being away from the house from 7 am - 5 pm isnt doing me justice here. But how could i possibly NOT choose maxi dresses, oversized sweaters and beanies?!

Mar's pretty gifts -- DiY

 My best friend Maria turned twenty-two last friday! We always tend to go a little overboard on buying one another gifts for birthdays & christmas, but this year I wanted to make some special things for her. I was inspired by these notebooks, & decided to make some of my own! Here's what I did:

+++

// Supplies needed:
+ notebooks (these are piccadilly brand, & came in a pack of 3 at Barnes&Noble bookstore)
+ polaroids (i took these all at different times over the past two months in my backyard)
+ tape ( i used masking tape as well as pretty leaf printed tape i found at Target)
+ scrapbook pages ( i bought two books of varied patterns of printed paper in the scrapbook section of A.C. Moore)
+ scissors!

 +++

The process was really easy after having all of the materials! I knew which polaroids I wanted to pair with which notebook colour, and just went with the flow. There were so many pretty patterns & different colours to pair & overlap. Too much fun, i could make these kind of journals forever :)
 ++
I [ofcourse] found so many other pretty things I wanted to gift. I almost always am painting something for someone, and this gift was no different. I based it off of a photo i took, and a quote from Jean Rhy's novel Good Morning, Midnight -- a book Mar lent me ages ago. [ ps its a really lovely book.] I found the quote so inspiring, and i knew Mar needed some inspiration, and ofcourse i painted the background yellow, our favourite colour, duh.

 "Do not delude yourselves, nothing is easy, but there is hope."
++
my other fun little gifts for my favourite person :)

light,

I've always been fascinated with natural light. I remember racing home from high school, skipping the last two periods solely for the purpose of coming home and chasing light throughout the house. The other day I was reminded of this such love, & couldn't help but snap a few photos throughout the morning & afternoon:
