rings on rings on rings

+++

I've always been a jewelry person--as soon as i got my ears pierced for the first time when i was eight i was on board for the long haul. In high school earrings were my go to piece of jewelry, & my job as assistant manager at a costume jewelery store didnt help matters (I did the math once and figured i spent around 100$ a month on crappy 2$ jewelery at this store--ohh seventeen year old me.) For Christmas when I was sixteen my mum gave me the claddagh ring & from there my ring obsession grew.

 ++
 In the first year of college I bought two spoon rings, of which i was in love with. They were sterling silver & i wore them everyday. The plain silver spoon worn on my middle finger paired with the claddagh ring on my right hand. While the black victorian designed spoon i wore on my left hand pointer finger.
The gold ring with the opal stone was my mothers--i had found it in her jewelery drawer and asked her if i could have it--since then I've worn it everyday on my left hand ring finger.
+++

Unfortunately the spoon rings didnt last--I was doing a fashion show and was asked to take them off, (which i had never done,) the plain silver one broke right in half as i was trying to put it back on, and the design one has a slit in the back where it must of been welded together. :( I've researched trying to find some replacements but nothing that I loved as much as those. Instead, I found other everyday rings to fall in love with.

 +
The knot ring I bought from a vender in London & wear it on the same finger as the claddagh. The silver feather ring, worn on my left hand middle finger, was found at Fossil last year--as soon as we unwrapped it I bought it without hesitation. It reminded me the most of my broken silver spoon ring.
+
The midi rings are mostly an everyday staple as well (two from uo, and two from freepeople.)
The double turquoise ring was something I found while in Aruba.
The silver wrap ring was from a different Fossil store that I visited.

Even with so many different phases and changes in my everyday accessories, I definitely still consider myself a ring baby at heart & will continue to rock em out

Five years!

On Sunday, 6/23, Tom & I celebrated our five years of dating :) Every year mark we've spent together has been vastly different from the previous one. The amount of change within ourselves is crazy to think about--i was a totally different version of myself in 2008. With all the chaos of being ages 15 & 16 to now 20 & 21, I'm glad we've had each other through each bit. We spent a sunny sunday picnicing, taking photos, eating ice cream, making pizzas & experimenting with polaroid lifts--such a lovely day<3

 + beer & lemonade ....mmmmm!

 ++ qt
 + tommy's pizza: mushroom red sauce, buffalo wing cheddar cheese, mozzarella, mushrooms, garlic powder
+ my pizza: honey bbq sauce, feta, mozzarella, pineapple, granny smith apples
  5's (see what we did there?)

+ Tommy's presents to me!!

brunchin'

 +++

For all the days when I wake up late & have a craving for both breakfast & lunch deliciousness:

// Ingredients-->>
+ egg - sunnyside up
+ mushroom veggie burger
+ spinach
+ medium salsa
+ hot sauce
+ italian blend cheeses - pecorino romano & parmigiano reggiano

So yummy & simple. I tend to consistently prepare some version of the "egg on veggie burger" meal without even realizing. Tweaking the flavours every so often makes for less boredom !

Travels: New York City

Just came back from a long weekend in New York! (No, but really, i got in at 5:30am and went to work and now i wanna die from delayed exhaustion) Around January or February one of my friends posted a status about buying tickets for her and her husband to see The Postal Service perform in Brooklyn in June: immediately after reading her post I bought Tom and I tickets as well! We both had loved Postal Service since their one and only album came out in 2003, & were super pumped to see them in concert because they NEVER tour, like, ever. Ben Gibbard even said at the concert: "This is how you do it future musicians- you put out a record, dont do anything for ten years, and then you'll play at Barclays in Brooklyn" --- very funny & very true.
We have friends living in New York so we decided to make it a weekend long trip (the concert was on friday night.) We boarded the good ol' Megabus (never again) wednesday night and got into Manhattan at 6 am, found our way to Queens half dead, and crashed on our friends' futon until 1pm. The rest of the weekend was filled with great food, drinks, visits with friends, birthday celebrations, & public transportation exasperation. A very busy but very fun weekend! Here are some photos from my phone while I wait for my film to be developed!

Travels: Aruba

Somehow it became June -- real quick. From the end of May until this past Saturday I was traveling to Aruba! It was my first time in the Caribbean and having a "tropical vacation." It was so different from all other traveling I've had the chance to do but i loved it equally. I now understand the concept of laying outside in the sun, feeling the ocean breeze and sipping on a fruity drink. ( SO MUCH fish, nachos, & Malibu infused pineapple juice) I have a new found love for the ocean, iguanas, sunscreen spf 70 & mudslides. Exploring new places will always bring me happiness & i feel so lucky to have been able to go visit the island of Aruba with such lovely friends <3
